Industrial Wi-Fi 6 + Industrial ETH for Reliable Communication in Silicon Steel Production

–Project Background–
As steel manufacturing continues to move toward digitalization and intelligent production, Level 2 (L2) process control systems require continuous and reliable data exchange with field production equipment and control systems.
The project was implemented in a silicon steel production facility, representing a typical complex industrial communication environment. The large-scale production area features extensive steel structures, pipelines, cable trays, and heavy industrial equipment. These conditions can create signal obstruction, reflection, and multipath effects, making reliable wireless communication more challenging than in conventional indoor environments.
At the same time, stable communication between field equipment, control systems, and the upper-level L2 system is essential for continuous production operations. The industrial network must provide not only basic connectivity, but also continuous wireless coverage, reliable data transmission, and stable 24/7 operation in a demanding production environment.
Location: Xinyu, China

The solution is complemented by industrial optical transceivers, fiber-optic distribution boxes, PoE power modules, dual-band industrial antennas, RF cables, and 304 stainless-steel enclosures.
Together, these components establish a complete communication infrastructure from field wireless access and industrial Ethernet aggregation to fiber-optic transmission and integration with the existing production network.
Industrial Wi-Fi 6 Access Points for Production-Area Coverage
Based on the layout of the silicon steel production facility and the distribution of production equipment, 14 industrial wireless access points were deployed across the production area.
Each wireless communication point is built around the GP-AP3000AX-FS Industrial Wi-Fi 6 AP, together with dual-band 2.4 GHz/5 GHz antennas, RF cables, PoE power modules, fiber-optic components, and 304 stainless-steel enclosures.
The industrial-grade installation design provides appropriate equipment protection for the production environment while supporting reliable wireless connectivity for field devices and control systems.

The wireless access points are connected to the industrial Ethernet network and aggregated through the fiber-optic infrastructure, providing a reliable transmission path between the production area and the upper-level network.
This architecture helps address communication challenges associated with large industrial facilities, extensive metal structures, long transmission distances, and dense production equipment.

Centralized Wireless Management and Integration with the Existing Network
The project uses the GP-AC32 Industrial Wireless Access Controller to centrally manage the 14 deployed industrial wireless APs.
Through centralized management, the wireless network can be configured and maintained from a unified platform, improving operational efficiency and simplifying network maintenance.
