Industrial Wireless Roaming + Onboard CPE for Reliable Communication in High-Density Automated Warehouses!

–Project Background–
JD.com continues to advance intelligent logistics and automated warehousing, deploying automated equipment such as four-way shuttle vehicles to improve material handling efficiency and enable automated transportation between storage locations and designated operating areas.
During operation, four-way shuttle vehicles rely on wireless communication to continuously support:
- Onboard PLC data transmission
- Equipment status reporting
- Dispatch and control command reception
- Continuous communication during vehicle movement
The warehouse environment features large-scale mobile operations, high-density rack obstructions, and complex radio propagation conditions. Conventional wireless networks may experience delayed roaming, unstable wireless links, and communication interruptions when mobile equipment moves between coverage areas.
To address these requirements, GPSENKE provided an Industrial Wi-Fi AP + Industrial CPE + Fast Roaming wireless communication solution, enabling reliable wireless connectivity and real-time data exchange for mobile equipment.

–GPSENKE Network Solution & Device–
Network Architecture
The project adopts an intelligent warehouse wireless communication architecture integrating: Industrial Wi-Fi Coverage + Industrial CPE for Mobile Connectivity + Industrial Switches for Multi-Level Aggregation + Core Switch for Data Forwarding + AC for Centralized Management.

Key Equipment Deployed

GP-AG500-N Industrial Wireless Client
- IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ac
- 802.11 Wave 1
- Wireless data rate up to 1167 Mbps
- MAC address cloning
- Millisecond-level fast roaming
- IPv4 / IPv6 support
- 2 × Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet ports
- RS232 / RS485 serial interfaces
- MU-MIMO support
- DC 9–48V wide-range power input
Industrial Wi-Fi APs are deployed throughout the warehouse and connected to industrial switches for network access and data aggregation. The aggregated traffic is then forwarded through the core switch to the backend servers and warehouse dispatch system.
Each four-way shuttle vehicle is equipped with a GP-AG500-N Industrial Wireless Client, providing high-speed wireless connectivity and fast roaming as the vehicle moves across different AP coverage areas.
The AC controller provides centralized management of the wireless network, enabling unified configuration, monitoring, and optimization of the deployed APs.
–Project Site Deployment—
Based on the warehouse layout and four-way shuttle operating routes, industrial-grade Wi-Fi APs were deployed as the core wireless coverage infrastructure.
Industrial switches provide reliable wired network access and data aggregation for the wireless system.

—Network Management–
AC Controller in Standalone Deployment
The project adopts an AC controller deployment alongside the core switch. The AC controller connects to the core network and centrally manages the industrial wireless APs deployed throughout the warehouse. Through the centralized wireless management platform, the system supports:
- Unified industrial AP configuration
- Centralized SSID and security policy deployment
- Real-time AP status monitoring
- Centralized wireless parameter optimization
This architecture simplifies network operation and maintenance while providing a consistent wireless configuration across the entire warehouse.

—Project Results—
Continuous operation tests demonstrated stable communication throughout the test area. The industrial wireless network successfully supported the communication requirements of four-way shuttle vehicles, providing the low-latency and reliable connectivity required for mobile automation applications.
